These days there are so many articles about how Technology hinders our every day experiences (many of which I completely agree with) but it’s refreshing to hear about the positives technology can bring us as well! There are many ways technology can lead to positive change in the lives of youth and Amy Jussel gives us tips on how to take technology to help make positive changes in children’s lives. Teachers, parents, teens, youth, check it out! Shapingyouth.org

Nutrition Info and Games
We’ve begun our nutrition unit with our 6th graders and what better way to reinforce and revisit the food plate than a little fun an games! There are some really great sites out there that are interactive and informative for kids.
Here are a couple sites we use in our class:
Loving Yourself…Inside and Out
In our 6th grade health classes, we are currently talking to students about body image. We use a lot of resources to help our students understand that we all come in different shapes, sizes, colors, etc. But nothing is a better example than personal stories. Here’s Oscar winning Lupita Nyong’o speech on Black Beauty and the importance of loving yourself…Inside and out.
This would also be a great addition and example in Media Literacy Lessons.
Great Healthy Resources
On Michael Pollen’s webpage he gives some great resources for getting healthy and staying healthy for parents and kids but I think they’re pretty useful for us health teachers! Check it out these Healthy Resources.
